2019 Vineyards: New Grapes Who 'Dis?

2019 HARVEST UPDATES

We harvested Verdelho, Carignan and Valdiguié again in 2019, but we were also thrilled to welcome two new varieties to the family: Arneis and Barbera!  Both originally hail from the Piemonte region of northern Italy. They are wonderfully food-friendly wines, and will be aging in our bodacious 500L puncheon barrels. The Arneis comes to us from Spirit Canyon Vineyards in Mendocino County, and the Barbera from the beautiful Shake Ridge Ranch in Amador.

Old friends, new places…

We changed the vineyard sources for our Verdelho and Carignan this year, in an effort to work with farmers who are more organically- and sustainably-minded. We're also making an effort to support women growers, and have been seeking fruit sources with ladies in charge.
We'll be welcoming Verdelho from Vista Luna vineyard in the Borden Ranch AVA, and Carignan from the 80+ year-old vines of Feliz Creek Vineyard in the Mendocino AVA.
